This beautiful city amidst peaceful surroundings on Aravali hills range is situated in the state of Haryana. It is one of the prominent Districts of Haryana bordering Delhi. It is bounded by the Union Territory of Delhi (National Capital) on its north, Gurgaon District on the west and State of Uttar Pradesh on its east & south. Faridabad enjoys a prime location both geographically and politically.

Faridabad district has an area of 2151 Sq.kms. It has a share of 4.86% of the total state land. It is the most densely populated district in the state and industrialized city in the whole of Haryana. It alone generates about 60% of the revenues of Haryana with its large number o f industrial units. Faridabad’s population is predominantly Sikh and Hindu. Badkhal Lake
Badkhal lake is an important tourist attraction and is frequented by tourists from all over the country and abroad. The lake is Next to Badkhal village, its name probably comes from the Persian word bedakhal, which means free from interference. Formed in a scooped natural depression in the Aravalli hills, the lake is fed by rain water and a small rivulet. The complex includes a beautifully done-up Rajhans, a pool of fresh water - Siddha Kund; its waters said to have healing properties and a garden. A delightful handloom and handicrafts fair is held here annually in February. Skilled artisans from all over the country display the rich crafts tradition of India in the typical setting of a rural Indian marketplace. Cultural programmes like folk dances, magic, and rural cuisines are also a part of this colourful fair.

Reaching Faridabad

Faridabad is one of the best cities in Haryana, India & one of the satellite cities of Delhi. Road Transport
Faridabad is placed on the NH-2, also known as the Delhi-Mathura highway. It runs through the heart of the city. This important road connects Faridabad to Delhi as well as other cities and districts. Haryana Roadways, and neighbouring states like Delhi Transport Corporation, Uttar Pardesh Transport Department, Madhya Pradesh Transport Department, etc. are easily accessible.

Delhi Faridabad Elevated Highway connecting Delhi and Haryana will significantly reduce the travel time between Delhi and the fast growing city of Faridabad by over 40 minutes and also reduce fuel consumption .

The inter-state terminals in city is Kashmiri Gate ISBT in Northern Delhi. Regular bus services are available from ISBT. Buses ply from the various bus stands to other parts of North India including Delhi, Chandigarh, Mathura, Agra and various other cities in Haryana.

Commuting by bus between Faridabad and Delhi has become more comfortable with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) large fleet of AC & NON AC low floor CNG buses operating in the entire city. DTC has started plying low floor buses from Faridabad to AIIMS, New Delhi, and Faridabad to ISBT, Delhi,routes. Some of them on certain routes are available at all the railway stations and the ISBT . The other option is to take a public transport, come down to Badarpur (Delhi) Border, then to take a DTC bus to Faridabad.

Among other public transportation options, you can opt for Private Cab, metered auto rickshaws, and state-run buses etc.

The best option for travel to Faridabad, is to hire an independant taxi/cab travelling on this route every hour from some good tourist travel services provider. Taking a taxi is a faster and more comfortable way to reach the city but it can costlier by many times. Prices may range from Rs. 300-500 for one-way travel from Delhi to Faridabad.

Recently, Radio Taxis have started to gain ground in Delhi. Brands such as Mega Cabs, EasyCabs, etc., provide the on-call radio taxi service, which is slightly more expensive than conventional Black and Yellow taxis. Companies such as Hertz Car Rental and Avis Car Rental provide rent-a-car service.

By Rail
There are 3 Railway Stations in Delhi i.e. New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Station, Nizzamudin Station, where the trains depart and arrive, and the nearest major railway station is New Delhi, it is just 28 kms away & The Hazrat Nizammudin Railway Station at Delhi is 25 kms away from Faridabad Station. Thousands of people move daily in local trains to and from Delhi for education/professions. EMU train timings from Faridabad towards New Delhi:7:30AM, 8:00AM, 8:20AM, 8:29AM, 9:21AM, 11:31AM, 01:02PM. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to extend the metro rail service to the city as well. Metro rail services are likely to touch the city by 2010. The nearest Metro Station is Badarpur Metro Station about 10 km and is easily accessible to rest of the areas of delhi.

Faridabad is on the broad gauge of New Delhi- Mumbai Line.
Faridabad has three railway stations. These are located at Old Faridabad(FDB), New Industrial Town Faridabad (FDN) and Ballabgarh (BVH). Trains ply from the Old Faridabad railway station for most of the other important Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Local Trains runs between New Delhi to Faridabad. For local commuters, there are EMU train services to New Delhi, Mathura, Agra, and Ghaziabad which ply at frequent intervals. Price ranges from Rs. 10 - 15.

Air Transport
Faridabad is served by Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and Palam Domestic Airport, New Delhi. You have to land at the Indira Gandhi International airport at New Delhi.This world-class air terminal is located at a distance of 25 kms from the Faridabad. The domestic Palam airport is also situated at about the same distance from Faridabad.

There are regular flights that will take you to Delhi from any corner of the country. Transport of various sorts is available at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. These include autorickshaws, taxis and even buses most of which are operated by private operators. There is also a prepaid taxi service and it advisable that this facility is made use of as it proves to be the most economical.
