(A) Pharmacy Lab: - well equipped pharmacy lab to work at a time for 50 students; approximately 15 pharmacy practical exercises are done by students related to solve the dental problems. Manual is provided to students.
(B) Departmental Library: - contains the reference books & journals, to be used by faculty & students.
(C) Preparation Room: - to facilitate the pharmacy practical.
(D)Museum: - contains a number of charts, medicinal plants, drugs & photographs of eminent pharmacologists & adverse drug reactions caused by various drugs.
(E) Store Room: - to store various chemicals & equipments required for practical exercises
(F) Notice Board: - contain various notices pertaining to students, weekly time tables & information related to various drugs & other scientific developments.
Objective of teaching is to develop innovative skill for rational drug use with due consideration of pharmacovigilance & drug interactions. A number of problem solving exercises are given to facilitate the active learning.
Emphasis is given from fundamental to proper management of patients with due consideration of pharmacokinetic & pharmacodynamic of drugs. Emphasis on objective based learning is imparted to students.
Evaluation about learning of subject is a continuous process & internal assessment is informed to the students & university.
Attendance: - minimum 75% attendance is required for theory lectures & practicals.
Syllabus :- all topics are covered as per DCI & university syllabus, Dental pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, applied pharmacology, pediatric & geriatric pharmacology, drug interactions & pharmacovigilance are given due consideration.
Professor and HOD, Deptt. of Pharmacolgy, Dr.(Mrs.) Naresh Khanna
Dr.(Mrs.) Naresh Khanna is MD (Pharmacology) from Aligarh Muslim University,1973 and MAMS (Member of Academy, Medical Sciences) of National Academy of Medical Sciences since 1992.
She has rich experience of teaching and research of over 36 years, out of which 34 have been at Post Graduate level. In Institutes like Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh; Rohtak Medical College, Rohtak; Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai and University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi.
She has approx. 35 Research publications in Referred National and International Journals; around the same no. in non-indexed journals; 3 publications in medical books and 35 Abstracts in various journals. She has attended approx. 80 Conferences/Workshops/Symposia, many as Guest Lecturer/Invited Expert, two of which were outside the country. Has been an Expert Reviewer of articles and thesis, both for India and journals abroad.Has been a Guide to 18 MD (Pharmacology) and 2 Ph.D. students.
Life member of Indian Pharmacological Society and 7 other National bodies related to her fields of interest. Member, Board of Studies, Deptt. of Pharmacology, Aligarh Muslim University.
Has been and continues to be an External Examiner for various courses including DM ( twice in AIIMS, New Delhi and four times at NIMS, Hyderabad); MD; Ph.d; MBBS; M. Pharm and BDS in various Universities and Colleges all over India.
Mrs. Ranjini Pillai – MSc. (Pharmacology) is working as lecturer in pharmacology.
Mr. Dilavar Singh is working as technician & store keeper of store of department.
Mr. Devdutt is working as attendant of department.
FUTURE PLAN FOR DEPARTMENT
Department is planning to develop clinical pharmacology & active monitoring of adverse drug reactions(pharmacovigilance) & prescription auditing.
